Hi and welcome to my small collection of webpages; my tribute to Unreal Tournament (aka UT) which hopefully will be useful to people who wander across it.

The original intention behind this website was to house and give the public access to a series of "dark maps" I made for UT.

To cut a long story short whilst giving some kinda explanation, "dark maps" are maps where certain bright textures within them have been blacked out or effectively removed.

Reason 1) Normally they are blindingly bright and/or irritating, for example any one of the *huge* solar flares that circle the CTF-Facing map.
Reason 2) When you try and aim at someone during game, you don't want to "lose" your aim-cursor when you accidentally move it over a collusus image of Earth - I mean, how you going to know where a 5mm cursor is if it gets placed over a 15cm big multicoloured pic?

If you have tried to make your own dark map, you will know that Unreal Tournament servers use an add-on called UTPure that detects alterations (even kilobyte differences) in your maps. Hence after I discovered that there was no information in the Net on how to get round this problem, I decided I'd spread the knowledge and save others the frustration by uploading the little bits of what I know.

I will also try to include other helpful guides on this site. However, if you don't want to learn how to make dark maps yourself, a few dark maps are available in the downloads section.

You can e-mail at [taken off] if you desperately want to give me a suggestion or need help, but I won't necessarily reply.
